How to Make a Bow -

Free Instructions - Scroll down for instructions

Lots of people have been asking us to give them instructions on how to make a bow.

Here we go:

You will need Ribbon - Scissors and Wire - if you have never done this before use a thicker ribbon - it will be easier for learning.

The wire that you need to get is 22 or 24 gauge - you can purchase this at any craft store or Wal-Mart.

You will notice that any type of ribbon you get with have a right side and a wrong side

You always need to make sure that the right side of the ribbon is facing up.

Take the first piece of ribbon and pinch it between your fingers as shown above.

Bring the ribbon into a loop and pinch into the same fingers - always making sure that the right side of the ribbon is facing up.

Make a loop on the other side and pinch into your fingers - right side always up!!!

Make as many loops as you like on your bow - just remember - the right side of the ribbon will always be up.

When you have the number of loops that you want - cut the ribbon off.

With the bow still in your fingers being pinched - cut a piece of ribbon that you will use for the "tails" this can be as short or as long as you like.

Pinch the "Tail" into the bow (right side up!!!)

This is the most important part - wrap the wire around the bow - and hold that bow as shown in the picture above - then twist the wire as hard as you can.  The harder and closer to the ribbon you can twist the wire - the nicer your bow will be.

This will take some practice!

Cut your tails like this - fold the ribbon right sides together

And cut on a diagonal toward the outside of the ribbon

Perfect every time!

The perfect bow!  You can use this same method with any type of ribbon you like - we used this beautiful polka dot ribbon because we thought it would make people smile!!!

Have fun practicing!
